Born in New York to a family of artists and entrepreneurs who greatly encouraged artistic expression. With an extensive background in materials training including all forms of drawing + painting, printmaking, ceramic and jewelry. She later received a degree in sculpture from the Rhode Island School of Design, specializing in metal work.
The paintings have been referred to as sculptural. Perhaps melding the years of study in that realm. Usually depicting the human form- anatomy and emotion through both concept and paint treatment. There is an underlying theme of armor appearing allegorically in a lot of the work. Covering, uncovering, shielding. Almost as if the paintings are caught moments within a performance piece, they are part of a greater whole for the viewer to fill in.
Nicole currently resides in New York where she has a private studio practice.
